Shipping from China to Austria

We're a Chinese freight forwarder operating from the origin, where your goods are made and loaded. Importing directly from China brings barriers —the language, the distance, who to turn to— and our job is to make them a non-issue. Austria has no coastline, but it's perfectly connected by rail and by the major neighbouring ports. We handle your shipment from China to Austria end to end —transport, documentation and customs—, with the prices you only get by working from the origin itself.

Why work with a forwarder at origin

Better price, no middlemen

You work with the people at the port of departure in China, not a middleman in Austria that subcontracts. Fewer links, better price.

Control from the factory

We're where your goods are made and loaded: we coordinate pickup, consolidation and shipping from the very first metre.

We know the ground

We know Chinese carriers, ports and export formalities inside out. We pick the best combination of factory, port or train to Austria.

Close service, no language barrier

We work in writing and can reply in German, as well as English, the common standard in international shipping. Every detail stays clear and documented — no language barrier with the origin.

Ports and gateways into Austria

Austria is landlocked: your goods enter through a major neighbouring port and continue overland, or arrive directly by train. We pick the combination that connects best with your destination to cut cost and time.

Hamburg (Germany)

The most important seaport for Austria. A major container hub with direct connections to all the world's big ports and excellent rail and road links into northern and central Austria.

Koper (Slovenia)

The Adriatic port most used by Austria: just about 400 km from Vienna, versus nearly 950 km from Hamburg. A shorter inland leg, lower cost, and a strong rail link (most of its Austria-bound cargo travels by train).

Trieste (Italy)

Another major Adriatic port, with heavy investment in direct rail links to the Austrian network: services to Vienna, Graz and Linz. Excellent for southern and eastern Austria.

Rotterdam / Bremerhaven

North Sea alternatives for certain flows, with good intermodal connection into Austria when the route or service calls for it.

We also operate with other Austrian points: Vienna (Wien Süd Terminal · airport VIE) · Graz · Linz · Salzburg

Transit times and transport modes

Rail · 20–26 days

The big asset for Austria. Vienna is a direct destination of the China–Europe train (Wien Süd Terminal), with services from hubs like Chengdu or Xi'an. The balance between price and speed for an inland country; the exact time depends on the route and departure.

Sea + land · 30–40 days

The most cost-effective option for large volumes. Arrival at Hamburg, Koper or Trieste and an onward rail or road leg to Austria. FCL (full container) or LCL (groupage) depending on your cargo.

Air · 6–8 days

For urgent or high-value cargo, via Vienna (VIE). Fast and tracked in real time.

Customs and taxes when importing into Austria

We take care of clearance. Austria is part of the EU customs union: to import you need an EORI number and an import declaration is filed. Customs duty (based on the product's TARIC code, common across the EU) and import VAT (USt), at 20% standard with reduced rates for some products, are settled. One advantage of clearing through a neighbouring port is that, once in free circulation in the EU, the goods move on to Austria with no further customs. We help with tariff classification and coordinate clearance with a customs agent.

How the EU's common customs works

How it works, step by step

  1. We collect at the factory in China and review the paperwork.
  2. Export clearance at origin and loading via the best Chinese port or rail terminal.
  3. International transport (rail, sea or air) with tracking.
  4. Import clearance in the EU: duty, VAT and formalities.
  5. Final delivery to your warehouse or address, anywhere in Austria.
