Shipping from China to the Dominican Republic

We're a Chinese freight forwarder operating from the origin, where your goods are made and loaded. The Dominican Republic is the Caribbean's largest economy and a major importer from China, with the port of Caucedo as a regional transhipment hub. We handle your shipment end to end —transport, documentation and customs—, with the prices you only get by working from the origin itself.

Why work with a forwarder at origin

Better price, no middlemen

You work with the people at the port of departure in China, not a middleman on the island that subcontracts. Fewer links, better price.

Caucedo, Caribbean hub

The port of Caucedo, operated by DP World, is a major regional transhipment centre with direct services. We put it to use so your cargo arrives fast and well connected.

Free zones

The country has a strong network of free zones to store, transform and re-export. Useful if your operation combines import and regional distribution.

We assist you in Spanish

We work in writing and assist you in Spanish, as well as English, the common standard in international shipping. Every detail stays clear and documented, no language barrier with the origin.

Entry ports in the Dominican Republic

The best point depends on where your final destination is and the type of service. Caucedo concentrates the big container traffic; Haina serves the capital. We pick what connects best.

Caucedo (DP World)

The country's main container port, east of Santo Domingo, a major Caribbean transhipment hub with direct services from Asia. The main entry for Chinese cargo.

Río Haina

A port near Santo Domingo, closely tied to domestic trade and industry. Good connection with the capital and its surroundings.

Puerto Plata

A northern port, useful for that region and for Cibao trade.

Boca Chica / free zones

Logistics and industrial areas for storage, transformation and re-export with tax advantages.

We also operate with other Dominican points: Santo Domingo (airport SDQ) · Caucedo · Río Haina

Transit times and transport modes

Sea · 28–38 days

The most cost-effective option. FCL (full container) or LCL (groupage) depending on your volume, to Caucedo or Haina. Caucedo offers good direct connectivity from Asia.

Air · 6–10 days

For urgent or high-value cargo, via Santo Domingo (SDQ). Fast and tracked in real time.

Door to door (DDP)

We handle everything, including import duties and ITBIS, and deliver to your address. You just receive the goods.

Customs and taxes when importing into the Dominican Republic

We take care of clearance. Dominican customs is run by the DGA (General Directorate of Customs). The country has no FTA with China, so duty applies according to the product. On imports you pay the ITBIS (VAT) of 18%, calculated on the customs value plus duty, and some products also carry selective consumption taxes. The country has a strong network of free zones useful for storage and re-export operations. We classify the goods correctly and coordinate clearance at destination, so your cargo enters without surprises.

How it works, step by step

  1. We collect at the factory in China and review the paperwork.
  2. Export clearance at origin and loading via the best Chinese port.
  3. International transport (sea, via Caucedo, or air) with tracking.
  4. Import clearance in the Dominican Republic: duty, ITBIS and DGA formalities.
  5. Final delivery to your warehouse or address, anywhere in the country.
