Shipping from China to Uruguay

We're a Chinese freight forwarder operating from the origin, where your goods are made and loaded. Uruguay is a stable logistics gateway to the Southern Cone: the free port of Montevideo and its free zones make it a platform for entry and redistribution into Mercosur. We handle your shipment end to end —transport, documentation and customs—, with the prices you only get by working from the origin itself.

Why work with a forwarder at origin

Better price, no middlemen

You work with the people at the port of departure in China, not a middleman in Uruguay that subcontracts. Fewer links, better price.

Free port and free zones

Montevideo operates as a free port: goods can be stored and re-exported with great flexibility. We put it to use so you distribute to the Southern Cone efficiently.

Platform into Mercosur

Uruguay is a stable base to reach Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. We coordinate entry via Montevideo and onward transport to destination when needed.

We assist you in Spanish

We work in writing and assist you in Spanish, as well as English, the common standard in international shipping. Every detail stays clear and documented, no language barrier with the origin.

Ports and entry points in Uruguay

The best point depends on whether your cargo stays in Uruguay or is redistributed to the Southern Cone. Montevideo concentrates the big container trade. We pick what connects best.

Montevideo

The country's main port and the great container terminal, with free-port status. The gateway for Asian cargo and a base for regional redistribution.

Free zones

Uruguay has several free zones to store, consolidate and re-export goods with tax and operational advantages. Useful for distribution operations.

Nueva Palmira

A port on the Uruguay river, relevant for bulk and for the waterway connection with the hidrovía and the Southern Cone interior.

Colonia

A point close to Buenos Aires, useful as a logistics link with the Argentine side of the River Plate.

We also operate with other Uruguayan points: Montevideo (airport MVD) · free zones · Nueva Palmira

Transit times and transport modes

Sea · 30–40 days

The most cost-effective option. FCL (full container) or LCL (groupage) depending on your volume, to Montevideo. Ideal for volume and for redistributing via the free port or a free zone.

Air · 7–11 days

For urgent or high-value cargo, via Montevideo (MVD). Fast and tracked in real time.

Door to door (DDP)

We handle everything, including import duties and VAT, and deliver to your address. You just receive the goods.

Customs and taxes when importing into Uruguay

We take care of clearance. Uruguay is a member of Mercosur, which has a common external tariff towards third parties such as China; there is no FTA with China, so duty applies according to the product. The country's great advantage is operational: the free port of Montevideo and the free zones allow flexible storage and re-export without entering the tax regime until clearance for the local market. If the goods enter the Uruguayan market, 22% VAT is paid (among the highest in the region), calculated on the customs value plus duty. We make sure to choose the regime that suits you best and coordinate clearance at destination, so your cargo enters without surprises.

How it works, step by step

  1. We collect at the factory in China and review the paperwork.
  2. Export clearance at origin and loading via the best Chinese port.
  3. International transport (sea or air) with tracking.
  4. Import clearance or free-zone transit in Uruguay: duty, VAT and formalities depending on the chosen regime.
  5. Final delivery to your warehouse or address, or redistribution to the Southern Cone.
